The “Sign in” button in the toolbar is a placeholder for a future Zeron account. Clicking it does not sign you in, and it has nothing to do with Google accounts.

sudo apt install ./zeron-browser-stable_VERSION_amd64.deb - Installing requires administrator rights (sudo).
- To launch it, type
zeronin a terminal. It is also added to the app menu. - Installs to
/opt/zeron/zeron-browser. - To remove:
sudo apt remove zeron-browser-stable - The Linux version does not update automatically. To get a new version, download it again from this page and install it the same way.
- If you are on 0.4.5 or earlier, download and install the new version. From 0.4.6 the settings folder is separate from Chromium (
~/.config/zeron, moved automatically on first run), and fewer requests go to Google.

You can also check the GPG signature. Download the public key and the signature file (.asc), then run this in the same folder:

You should see “Good signature from Zeron Browser (Package Signing)”, and the key fingerprint must match:

A warning that the key “is not certified with a trusted signature” is normal — it appears because you have not marked the key as trusted. Just check that the fingerprint matches.
apt does not check signatures on a .deb you download yourself, so run these commands if you want to verify it.

- Android 10 or later, 64-bit (arm64) phones and tablets. Distributed only from this site, not from Google Play.
- Download the APK with the button above and open it. If asked about installing apps from unknown sources, allow it for the app you downloaded the file with.
- Play Protect may call it an app from an unknown developer and suggest a scan, because Zeron Browser is not listed on Google Play. If you downloaded the file from this site, choose “Install anyway”.
- Once installed, Android refuses updates signed with a different certificate. You only need to make sure the first file you install came from this site.
- When a new version is out, the app tells you once a day (you can turn this off in Settings → About Zeron Browser → “New version alerts”). Tapping “Get” opens this page.
- It does not install on Android 9 or earlier (including some interactive whiteboards). Use the Windows version on those devices.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use Chrome extensions?
Yes. Install them straight from the Chrome Web Store.
An extension disappeared after updating to 0.4.6 (Windows)
Up to 0.4.5, the Windows build fetched extensions registered for Chrome on the PC (for example Adobe Acrobat). From 0.4.6 such registrations are no longer used, so those extensions may be removed, and data stored in them may be deleted too. To keep using one, install it yourself from the Chrome Web Store. Extensions you added from the Web Store yourself are not affected. The ones affected are extensions that appeared without you remembering installing them (for example Adobe Acrobat) — even if you later visited their Web Store page — so add those again to keep using them.
Is there a Mac or Linux version?
Windows only, for now.
Linux has a .deb package (64-bit). It has been installed and run on Ubuntu 22.04 · 24.04 and Debian 12. Debian 11 has reached end of life and is not supported. There is no Mac version yet.
How do I update?
On Windows, open Open Settings → About Zeron Browser to check for and install updates. Each download is verified before it installs.
The Linux version does not update automatically; download the new version from this page and install it.
Which ad-block list does it use?
EasyList and EasyPrivacy, updated automatically every 6 hours.
Do I need to change any settings on Ubuntu 24.04?
No. The package installs the helper the browser sandbox needs.
Can I get website notifications (push)?
Yes. For sites whose notifications you allow, they go through Google's push service (FCM). If you do not allow them, nothing is registered. Details are in the privacy page.
Can my organisation manage it with policies?
From 0.4.6, Zeron reads its own policies. On Windows that is the registry key SOFTWARE\Policies\ZerOn (recommended policies under …\ZerOn\Recommended); on Linux, /etc/zeron/policies. Chromium policies (SOFTWARE\Policies\Chromium) no longer apply. There are no administrative templates (ADMX) yet.
